Welcome Isabella!

1 month milestone baby

We welcomed Isabella on April 29 at 12:14 pm! I had another c-section (scheduled) and it went smoothly. Just happy to meet her!

I scheduled my c-section as a backup plan with my previous surgeon and it ended up being her due date. I contemplated canceling it and going with the flow to see if I go into labour days before but due to being my second birth after a c-section it wasn’t a guarantee and I wouldn’t want to go too much longer. Glad I did it, when they opened me up and discovered I had scar tissue both on my bladder and uterus, so if we have another kid it has to be by c-section.

And the hospital was very busy the days before and during our stay that they were turning people in labour away, which means I could have potentially had to birth elsewhere without my midwives (due to limitations in hospitals in the city and municipalities, which I only found out about). Not ideal.

Recovery wasn’t too bad, I knew what to expect, and because I wasn’t induced before like Rowan and going through labour for hours, I wasn’t exhausted, nor was Isabella coming out. Also, there was no vomiting because I wasn’t on so much medication back to back! BONUS

She came out looking for a breast even when they were pulling her out. Therefore, breastfeeding has been a breeze compared to Rowan, we had a tough start. But Isabella has been a hungry gal! She gained back her birth weight in days after birth and is currently almost 12 lbs! She was born at 8.3!

We’ve been lucky with sleep, she’s a good sleeper, usually 4-5 hr stretches with a few 6-7 here and there at night! She naps great and eats so well. Hopefully, that doesn’t change but you never know.

Rowan has been so excited to be a big sister! Helps out! Sure, she has her jealous periods, I get it, she’s not the center of attention anymore, but she’s always excited to see Isabella every day. She’s been back at daycare for the past few weeks, sees her friends, and in a routine. Which I feel has helped out.

I never understood when people say they couldn’t imagine life without their new child, but I understand now. What was life like before Isabella joined us? We had lots of fun and memories with Rowan and just us two before kids but now life feels complete.

Isabella’s starting to coo at us, holds her head up, sleep well, and has a happy demeanor. Everything we could ask for as parents!

Stay tuned for more updates!
