It’s just under 60 days till our wedding in April and I’m going through what remains of my wedding checklist. I wanted to share part of my engagement journey and this is another important post in the series. One of the things that I do regularly and since the beginning is cleaning my engagement ring. This is very important ladies! You want to keep your sparkler very very sparkly!
Where your first step after getting engaged should be getting your ring insured, you want to make sure it never loses its sparkle. Follow Jewelers Mutualβs comprehensive cleaning and care guide for your daily, weekly andΒ monthly to-dos!
You can trust these must-have cleaning and care tips for your diamond engagement ring from Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company. Specializing exclusively in jewelry insurance for more than 100 years, they know how to keep your diamond ring safe and sparkling for years to come.
You could add your engagement ring onto your home insurance plan, but you can also get the right jewelry coverage for your diamond ring using them. Have peace of mind knowing that Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company specializes solely in jewelry.
You get an extra level of protect that often goes beyond what may be covered by typical homeowners or renterβs insurance.
I insured my ring within the first month of our engagement. I’m OCD like that! Everyday when I get home, I also take off my ring. Does anyone else do that? I also hop into sweats or PJs but that’s another story.
The reason I take it off is that I know I’ll be cleaning dishes or cooking and just want to make sure it’s kept clean. You see, I’m that person that can keep a pair of white sneakers white for years. But it’s not hard to keep your ring looking new, trust me download the guide and remember these tips below.
It’s important to have your jewelry appraised every five years as the cost of diamonds and precious metals go up. If you were to lose something which was appraised 10 years ago, the insurance value would be far less than the actual replacement cost.
Hand washing is a must in a public restroom but resist the temptation to remove your engagement ring while you’re lathering up. The possibility that you might leave your ring on the ledge of the sink, or, worse, drop it down the drain, is too great a risk to take.
Bleach and other cleaning agents can dull the finish of a ring and actually harm porous colored gemstones like emeralds.
Every bride has a different idea as to what her dream engagement ring will look like. Once you have that shiny stone on your finger, don’t start comparing your ring with anyone else’s. An engagement ring is a symbol of a couple’s love and devotion, not a sign of status.
Newsflash: Your ring is fragile. It’s important to remember that if you are careless with it, you can severely damage your ring. You can do this by chipping the band or setting the stones loose. In other words: Don’t punch anything. Don’t use your hand to hammer anything in. Don’t fist-pump too aggressively. You get the picture.
