Every winter, we look forward to the summer heat so we can finally shed the layers, but when July comes around, we find ourselves longing for the cool breeze of fall. It’s not just the change in climate we’re after, as we also end up missing our seasonal wardrobes. Afraid to wear our leather jacket this summer. Thus, it’s true what they say—we always want what we can’t have.
Because we’ve grown attached to certain clothes, we’re always on the lookout for ways to wear them across the seasons, whether we’re figuring out how to wear OTK boots and scarves in the summer or checking out Who What Wear for tips on styling maxi dresses in the winter.
This time around, we’ll be exploring how ladies can make use of their leather jackets all year round. A staple for casual wear, Lyst has showcased some of the most coveted jackets around; from a traditional biker to a multi strip leather jacket. And while leather is typically worn in cooler temperatures, like most pieces in your wardrobe, it’s possible to pull off, even in the heat.
Outfit Idea #1: Summer dresses are feminine and fun, but to shake things up, try pairing it with a leather biker for some edge. Babble suggests going for a button-up jacket and a loose chiffon dress with sandals.
Outfit Idea #2: Pink or baby blue pleathers may look out of season in fall and winter, but these bright hues work great for the summer. They add a great pop of color to a plain ensemble.
Outfit Idea #3: On cooler days, you can experiment with the monochromatic look or keep it all black with a casual tee and shorts. Fashion Gum shows that this outfit can be accessorized with a backpack and high tops.
Outfit Idea #4: Feel like you’re showing too much skin with a cropped blouse? Your leather jacket will keep you a little more modest. Feel free to swap the mini skirt with any other high waist bottom.
Which idea is your favourite look? I personally love looks one and four.
Those are great ideas. I always feel weird wearing that type of heavier item in the summer months. I”ll have to try some out!
