One of my favourite things to do on vacation is find a great bistro to people watch at. I love just relaxing, eating a delicious bite and watching life breeze past. I recently was browsing Instagram and saw a post at Caffè dell’Oro. I immediately saved it and bookmarked for a future trip to Italy.
Curtis and I plan on traveling later this year and one of our top destinations is Italy. I’d love to go back and visit my family and for Curtis to see it in person. Florence is one of my favourite cities. It’s so walk able, the food is amazing, the location is great and hello, the history!
Florence is about 30 minutes from Lucca, another city that is dear to me. My family is from there (and the Venetian area) so it’s a close ride over. Going into the city and walking along the river is amazing, it’s picturesque and stunning at sunset.
So on my list to visit next time will be Caffè dell’Oro. It is part of the Lungarno Collection of hotels, retreats and villas. I hope that I can stay at one of their hotels soon! I always plan an indulgent moment of a trip, like a meal at a fancy restaurant or a night at a luxury hotel. Just gives your trip a little something, something right?
The cafe is not one where you are sitting on the street, but more where you can grab a window seat and be surrounded by elegance. I am also a sucker for a restaurant with a fireplace. It’s a bistro in the five-star luxury hotel Portrait Firenze. Bucket-list worthy! Their chef is Peter Brunel, a Michelin-star decorated chef. Yet that doesn’t reflect in the prices. They are reasonable and competitive. Score! I hate breaking my travel budget when abroad, it puts a damper on the trip and takes money out of my shopping.
I would suggest stopping in here between visiting art galleries, historical sites, walking the river bank and shopping. We all need a break, and why not have a delicious one? If anyone does go by in the next bit, can you let me know?
Lately, I have definitely pinned a few pictures to my travel board on Pinterest. Anyone else do that? Find a place and save it to their board for later? I just find it’s such a great way to save something you want to do and be able to search for it easily in the future.
Oh, and does anyone else base their trip around food? Or is that just me? When we went to Copenhagen (which I still need to post about! Leslie get it together!), I made reservations at a few hotels prior to our trip. I wanted to have the full experience, randomly stumble into a gem, but also a meal at a known Danish restaurant. Curtis of course doesn’t mind when the food is good 🙂
So back to the topic, anyone else planning a trip to Florence soon? Suggestions, tips, travel guides? Please drop them below! Thanks lovelies!
