Street murals are becoming a welcomed thing in Vancouver. So much, that we have a yearly Vancouver mural festival! I think it’s such a cool initiative to commission work by local artists. It gives life to the buildings and neighbourhoods. Who wouldn’t want to see cool murals on their daily commute?
Curtis and I took Piper for a little family afternoon a couple of weekends ago. It was a beautiful sunny day and we walked around for hours. We took a lot of photos, walked every few feet and got stopped by a stranger wanting to pet Piper and stopped for baked goods and iced coffees. It was such a fun way to spend a Sunday.
The city has murals popping up all over, but the Vancouver Mural Festival is in Mount Pleasant down allies and on tech start-ups like Hootsuite. You can find the map and sign up for tours here. You can also find the artists for 2017 and past murals here.
And thank you to the friendly stranger who took our family photo! Very much appreciated!
I recommend if you have a weekend with nothing to do, to do this. Also check out my other little guide on some Vancouver gems to visit.
Any locals visit it this year?
