Now that we have moved and own our apartment we can finally do some decorating that’s a bit more permanent. So first up of course (besides the living space) was Rowan’s bedroom! Instead of just painted white walls and a few pieces of art hung up, we decided to add wallpaper this time to give it more character.
I went onto Photowall to look at their wallpaper and found the perfect one called Butterfly Lawns. It arrived in 3 days with a wallpaper kit and the instructions were easy to follow. We discovered they even have a Youtube channel with helpful how-to videos. It literally took Curtis under an hour to wallpaper her wall, and made such a huge difference!
When we moved in, her room had a built-in Murphy bed we removed after about a month. It just took up her whole room and wasn’t the safest. Instead, we got her a toddler bed, a desk, and some other items for her room. Curtis also put up these shelves for her books on one wall and it’s all tied in now. She was very excited to walk in and see it all done! Kept saying over again, “Wow”, “thank you”, “I love it”.
I found her almost matching bedspread from IKEA when we went to grab her desk and other small pieces, it was meant to be. I just can’t get over the transformation from when we initially moved into what it looks like now. I love that we were able to make her room feel special to her and have a theme, it just makes this all seem more permanent now instead of moving from a rental to another one each year since we sold our Kitsilano apartment while I was pregnant.
Her room is now calming, a fun place to come and play and all we need now are closet doors. Those are to come soon!
A side note on Photowall: They have an enormous selection of murals and wallpapers that I could choose from, so I took my time finding the perfect one for her room.
They also broke it down into types of murals and had a whole section dedicated to kids’ rooms. Really easy to navigate. They kindly shared a code for you to use – alifewellconsumed20 for 20% off your order!
I can’t wait to wallpaper our room and decorate it next. We have a lot of projects in our home for the next couple of years including the primary bathroom and closet! So stay tuned, I’ll be updating those on Instagram and here!
