Okkkkk where did the time go? I felt I just wrote her one-year update yesterday!
It’s been a busy few months, we are now officially into summer, and she’s the most active girl. I don’t think she sits down unless for meals, takes after her mother as Curtis would say. We recently had our 15-month pediatrician visit and she said Rowan is at an 18-24 month level for development. I’m not surprised, she does a lot of things that older kids do and always shocks parents at the playground. This also means that I am BUSY, always trying to think of new activities to do at home when we aren’t at her art/music class or the playground.
She’s been stacking blocks and any objects for a couple of months now, she knows phrases like change your diaper and runs to her bedroom where we do it, or knows when we say let’s brush your teeth and then run to the bathroom. Also great at bringing books over when we ask and can turn pages in her books. She does a lot of things and has always been like this before her stage. Which keeps me VERY, very busy during the day, we do a lot of activities and art and park visits. I recently set up a pikler for her at home and a huge collection of blocks that she stacks and sorts all day.
Rowan starts her swim class next week, I finally got her into one and I hope she likes it! Curtis is going to take her, it’s on Sunday mornings and he’s been looking forward to this since she was born. They’ve been practicing in the tub, now she can go into a bigger body of water. I also managed to sign her up for gymnastics in the fall, a toddler version anyways. See how that goes, but I want to keep her busy and try new things out as much as we can.
And I’m happy to say she’s been sleeping great! As I’m typing this out I’ve probably just jinxed it, but nonetheless, besides a leap period, she sleeps through the night. I just need to work on going to bed earlier, that’s a discussion for another day. I think having a bedtime routine since she was a baby has helped us in her sleeping journey. We do the same thing every night, dinner, bath, brush our teeth, lotion and PJs, bedtime story, sing a song, and then down to bed. Of course, I want to say that every child is different and this just works for us.
We visit our local playground once a day at least, it’s just two blocks away. She loves to go down the big slide, climbs the ladder (freaks me out, but she’s almost mastered it!), can go up the stairs by herself, and even goes down the slide too. She just has to copy the big kids and runs after them, it’s cute! I’m happy it’s close and is great for her age. We’ve been trying to do more playdates with other friends as we can, I’m probably the only one (besides one other friend) that has their child at home still during the day. So it’s hard to arrange playdates during the week, but hoping to do more later afternoon ones this summer. The pools are calling my name!
It’s just such a fun age, she chats all day long, nothing I can comprehend, but tries desperately to talk. We play games, make art, I say this loosely, and she’s a bundle of fun. Yes, I am exhausted by the end of the day, I don’t get much work done until she’s down but I’m so glad to spend these days and time with her. They just grow so quickly!

If anyone else has toddlers around the same age, please leave some activity suggestions down below! Thank you 🙂
It’s a busy time for sure! As hard and tiring as it is, enjoy every minute, it flies by before you know it 🥰
