We celebrated Rowan’s second birthday just over a week ago, I cannot believe she is now two! Where did the past two years go? It’s been slow yet so fast, with the pandemic, not really any vacations or events, I just felt the past two years went by slowly yet so fast when it comes to her. It felt like her first birthday just yesterday.
Her birthday fell on a Friday and my mom and I took her to the Vancouver Aquarium in the morning. We had so much fun, we caught a seal feeding and she was really excited about all the exhibits. After her nap, Curtis and I gave her presents to open up and we had a quiet dinner at home.
Since she is only two and doesn’t quite know it’s her birthday, we decided not to have a party with friends. So my family came over on Saturday, we had an ice cream cake Curtis made and opened gifts. It was really low-key, I figure next year, we can do something a bit more with her little friends. She’ll have a better understanding that it’s her birthday and hopefully, the pandemic will be behind us by then.
As you guessed by the photos, the theme was Peppa the Pig! I used her little figurines and toys she had already for decor and cake toppers, ordered this cute cake topper from Amazon, and some miscellaneous party supplies. It was perfect, she had so much fun opening gifts, she opens them so slowly though because every single piece of paper has to go in the garbage. Am I raising a child with OCD? Possibly, but it means it will be a tidy home, which is a bonus.
Curtis blew up a few balloons including a giant Peppa and I picked up mini cupcakes for an additional dessert. She had the best day and we tried out her new scooter all weekend outside.
It’s just a fun age, she talks so much, plays games like hide and seek, and becoming a little person with a large, funny personality. I remind myself to enjoy it all, it goes by really quick and one day I wish it was a longer period of time.
Happy 2nd Birthday Rowan! xoxo
