Last Friday, after our ice skating date, we stopped at Bestie for a bite to eat. This little gem in Chinatown serves up traditional Currywurst (Germany’s popular street food) along with other tasty variations of sausage. In addition to the sausages (vegetarian is also an option), Bestie offers soups and salads on their daily menu. The small interior had high ceilings with minimal décor, a smart layout that makes the space feel larger and German cuckoo clocks on the walls. I enjoyed the casualness of it.
I ordered the pork and Curtis ordered the special which was rosemary lamb. Both were delicious but I have to admit the rosemary lamb was the better choice. It had more flavour than the traditional pork bratwurst. These were under the Sausage and Sauerkraut part of the menu, all meats are locally made, all natural sausage served with warm sauerkraut, house mustard, crispy fries, and mayonnaise. The fries were amazing, crispy on the outside and very light and fluffy inside.
Curtis and I had beers with our meals, both really reasonably priced and they offer three different sizes. I love that you can get a small size (8oz) for those who don’t want a huge serving of beer.
Desserts are also available if you have room afterwards for some. We didn’t this time, but they were offering an ice cream sandwich which sounds pretty good.
Overall, we both enjoyed our meal and would come back again.
