We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel on our babymoon in January and I’m here to recommend it.
Itβs right across from The Royal Hawaiian, which is very convenient to get to the beach and any shopping plus restaurants. There are three restaurants on-site, including Maui Brewing Company and Hawaiian Aroma Coffee. The lobby cafe has live music every evening, we found ourselves there regularly enjoying the local talent.
The rooms are nicely decorated with a Hawaiian theme, but not overly done. Our room had a patio with a fantastic view of both the Diamond Head and the beach! There are Hawaiian and ocean-inspired modern art throughout the hotel, including the individual rooms.
Comfy bed, ample seating, modern bathroom, some rooms have tubs but not ours. Keep that in mind if you are traveling with small children to request you have a tub.β¨β¨ The Beachcomber has nearly 500 rooms, and each of them has a balcony that looks either down Kalakaua Ave or towards Diamond Head, with views of the beach between the buildings opposite. There are some one and two-bedroom suites. Our room was thoughtfully lit and generous in size with a sitting area beside the bed and a 55-inch wall-mounted smart TV.
Thereβs a capsule coffee machine. A walk-through wardrobe, with the bathroom vanity on the other side, provided plenty of storage and created the option of a dressing room. The king-size bed was incredibly comfortable. β¨β¨There were plenty of outlets, and I loved the eclectic variety of fixtures and furniture.
Downstairs thereβs an activity booking center and a gift shop! The Beachcomber Market had nice souvenirs, snacks and drinks, and other supplies like sunscreen or after-sun lotion.
We saw an advertisement about Cirque du Soleil opening a show in the building! It starts in the fall of 2024!
The pool downstairs was perfect for taking a break, you could order drinks and food from the cafe, and there was ample seating. And for anyone who needs a gym on-site, they do have a compact one with all the equipment you need.
There are inclusive activities every week β from sunrise yoga to Saturday night βdive inβ movies at the pool area, this place has a real vibe.
We found the hotel location so convenient, cross the road, wander down a lane lined by localsβ surfboards, and youβre on the soft sand of Waikiki Beach.
Overall I recommend staying here, itβs slightly cheaper than the beachfront resorts but honestly easily accessible to the beach and everything else you need. Rooms were quiet, no street noise, and it was fully renovated recently in 2021 with an $80 million budget.
Let me know if youβve stayed here!
