On the weekend, Curtis and I were running errands and decided to stop at the Mount Pleasant location of Nuba. We have a location by us on West Broadway and frequent it often for dinner. They serve up delicious fresh Lebanese food with organic and local ingredients for brunch, lunch and dinner. It’s flavourful, the atmosphere fun and whoever designs their interiors I want their number for my future place! They first opened in 2003 on Hasting Street and now have four locations in the city. A majority of their dishes are vegan and their meat and seafood are all sustainable and ethical.
That day I ordered the Falafel Lunch Plate and Curtis ordered the Chicken Tawook Lunch Plate. Both come with their homemade hummus and pita, pickled cabbage, a light salad and roasted potatoes. The hummus is amazing and you can get it to go. The spices were nice and the jalapeno sauce was a good spicy level. Curtis always gets the chicken for lunch, he says it’s always consistent and delish.
We also ordered their baklava trio. It comes with three different types of baklava, all freshly baked and freakin’ delicious! Pistachio, walnut and almond with a chocolate drizzle were what was offered that day. They were all nice, with a lovely buttery puff pastry.
I also ordered us their fresh juice of the day, a carrot orange lavender lemonade. WOW! The juice was so good, you get a hint of carrot but the orange and lavender flavours mask that. I tried desperately to save it before the food arrived. It was a hard task to say the least. I also enjoyed the fact it was healthy and a nice balance to the meal.
If you are near one of their locations, stop by for bite to eat.
