As you may know, I was living out of a suitcase (or two haha) at my parent’s house while we looked for a place to live after selling our apartment. That meant I had to streamline my skincare routine and pack up the rest of my products until we moved.
I wanted to share the products I was using for the last two months, the ones that I actually liked and felt worked with my hormonal, pregnant skin. UGH the worst, still waiting for that pregnant glow to kick in and my acne flareups to disappear.
And since I can’t use some products with ingredients like retinol and salicylic acid, I found some others that have helped keep my acne under control (for the most part anyway).
Let’s get to it then, and leave your favourite skincare products in the comments below! I’m always curious to know what everyone else is using. Don’t forget to check out my hyaluronic acid guide!
1. Kosmea Replenishing Moisture Cream
I was introduced to this Australian natural skincare brand earlier this year. I use this moisture cream at night, it’s gentle and hydrating. 2-3 pumps go a long way and has a nice scent to it. Most likely from the organic rose hop oil!
2. Drunk Elephant C-Firma Serum
You know I love this vitamin c serum, I have been using it for a couple of years. I featured it here on another skincare favourites post. Besides the vitamin c, I also appreciate the pump for their products. You just waste less and less air gets into it.
3. Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Serum
I go between this and the Vichy Mineral 89 and La Roche-Posay Hydra-B serums. This I’ve been liking combined with their C-Firma serum. It’s not tacky, goes on smoothly and lasts forever. It’s formulated with pro-vitamin B5 and pineapple ceramide, which is to deliver hydration throughout the day. I’ve mentioned it here before.
4. Mario Badescu Oil-Free Moisturizer
This has been my go-to day moisturizer, leaves a matte finish, my makeup layers nicely on top and doesn’t cause me to break out (besides the pesky hormonal acne ugh). It has skin-brightening Lemongrass Extract and soothing Allantoin infused into it which is why your skin feels balanced, soft, and supple.
5. Kosmea Clarifying Facial Wash
Curtis and I both love this facial wash, we share it in the shower. It’s really gentle, not stripping like most clarifying facial washes and a little goes a long way. So I kept telling Curtis! It actually replaces your skin with essential fatty acids, vitamins and provides it with anti-ageing properties. It also contains organic rosehip oil, and coconut properties!
6. Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse
This was new to me, and now I use it every night before using my regular face wash. It just gives you a pre-cleanse as it is called, which is the first step of a double cleanse. Since starting to double cleanse I do notice my skin improving, and those days I wear makeup, I feel like I get more off before using micellar water after both cleanses.
7. Dr. Dennis Gross Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask
Since I can’t use salicylic acid, I had to find a mask that can be used also as a spot treatment when my skin freaks out. I use it twice a week as a mask, and then dab a bit on spots for an overnight treatment. If I use it overnight, by the morning the pimple is not red and you can barely see it. The smell is meh, but I can look past it for the results. It’s also a cruelty-free product which was a new fact to me.
Great suggestions! Thanks for sharing!
