We are into September now, and I’ve started to transition my look for fall weather. But I have four staples in my makeup routine I want to share with you. These are all year products in my routine, nothing beats an instant glow and great coverage. September’s monthly beauty buys include foundation, concealer, bronzer and a cult tool.
I invested in a fantastic bronzer by Guerlain. I went to my local drug store (Shoppers for you Canadians!) and browsed all the brands but fell in love with this Terracotta Bronzing Powder. You don’t need too much, just a little bit goes a long way. I’ve heard that it can last years for some people. Which offsets the price, it’s definitely more high end than a lot of others. But if you live in Canada and have a Shoppers Membership card with enough points, it’s free! The colour looks great on my fair skin, and I would think it would suit a few others as well. It’s an instant natural glow anytime of the year.
Sheer Glow Foundation by NARS Cosmetics is like you are wearing an Instagram filter on your face. It blends nicely, you can layer it for what type of coverage you are after. It instantly covers up all my little flaws, acne scars, redness and is a nice base for my bronzer and/or highlighter. It’s pricy, but is my favourite so far. Bonus is that it contain anti-oxidants! The girl at NARS also mentioned the Velvet Skin Tint you can use as a primer and then this foundation on top. For me, that would be too much for everyday, but a special occasion could work.
The Double Wear Brush-on Glow BB Highlighter by Estee Lauder is my new favourite cover-up. Another Shoppers buy for me, gotta use those points.
It’s an application pen, you click it till it comes up and can use it to blend into your face. I like how it covers up my under eye circles, zits and stays on all day. I mean like 8 hours! It is also non-settling and hydrating, so you skin doesn’t dry out. If you use the Beauty Blender (see below) you can use that instead to blend this highlighter in. I really like to use this on the corners of my nose to hide some redness.
Ok, you might have heard of this cult beauty tool The Original Beauty Blender. I love mine! I use it to blend my foundation, concealer and Jose Argan bronzer stick mainly. I also have the solid cleanser for traveling and the liquid version. You can also use it for primers, powders, cream blushes, and any other complexion product. It’s an open cell structure that fills with small amounts of water when wet. This allows the sponge to be “full” so that the makeup product sits on top of the sponge rather than being absorbed, allowing you to use less product every time. Once you wash it, it bounces back to shape. Just make sure you wash it after every couple of uses at least.
What are your favourite makeup products? Please share in the comments below! I love to find out what real people are using, that’s why I love sharing my monthly beauty buys with you guys.
