Hi everyone,
This post is a tad late, I meant to do it the week of the Palm Springs Guides but life happened.
While we were in Palm Springs, we decided to take a day trip to La Jolla, San Diego. La Jolla, isΒ 20 minutes from downtown San Diego and is a beach neighbourhood, where people can go surfing and enjoy the views. La Jolla translates to “The Jewel”, and boy is it. About 30 minutes after we arrived, we decided to stay the night.
While walking along the beach, Curtis spotted this cute inn, they had one room left. We figured it was meant to be. Scripps Inn was a cute place,Β with amazing views of the water.
We quickly changed into our bathing suits and hit the beach. We first went along by the inn, with the waves crashing onto the beach.Β
After a bit, we walked down further to the cove where people were snorkeling. The water was calmer, so we were able to swim for a bit in the ocean.Β
On our way back, we stopped for margaritas and guacamole.
I was determined notΒ to miss the sunset, and boy was I glad I didn’t. Look at it, it’s gorgeous!
Dinner was much needed and we walked up to Herringbone (recommended earlier by a local). It was one of the coolest restaurants I have visited decor wise. You walk in and first question whetherΒ that you are still outside. There are large trees in the floor up to the ceiling, the lighting was perfect and there were stuffed puffer fish everywhere (even in the chandelier below). I instantly fell in love! Herringbone is a seafood restaurant, and we had a delicious meal that coincidentally included Chef Brian Malarkey (Owner of Herringbone) seated behind us. We eavesdropped into some conversation and gossip about Nigella Lawson, which I won’t divulge. But who doesn’t love entertainment while eating?

Next morning, we had coffee on the beach and met a fewΒ seagull friends. It was a perfect end to our visit in La Jolla.
The drive from Palm Springs to La Jolla was 2 hours and 20 minutes. If you take the Hwy 74 route, you will have a more enjoyable scenic drive through the mountains and valleys leading up to the San Diego area. I recommend visiting La Jolla, and if you can, stay the night!
Enjoy! xo
