With 2017 just a week and a bit away, you may be planning a new year’s eve party. I like to keep a party simple, good food, music and people. I’ve highlighted a few key points in ensuring that your party goes smoothly!
You should enjoy your party, so plan ahead and try the five tips below.
You need to tell people you are having a party. This is the first step, so why not send out fun invitation? Paperless Post has so many amazing NYE invitations and online cards you can send to your friends.
Plan an easy menu, go with finger food only. I prefer recipes I can make the night before, simple construction and taste delicious. And no, you don’t have to make everything from scratch. Your guests will never notice if you cut a few corners and take advantage of packaged ingredients.

Crostini Three Ways
A party is as good as it’s music. Make a playlist that is varied with genres and dance music.
Get wine, champagne, beer, liquor for cocktails and non-alcoholic options. Maybe just plan a signature cocktail to serve, that way it’s less stress on you and an easy decision for them to make. It’s very likely that people will ask what they can bring, and it’s more than okay to suggest that they bring some wine or beer for themselves to drink.

Most importantly have fun! Decorate how you want, or don’t, wear your favourite outfit and enjoy the evening.
Even if it’s a crowd of 5 or a party of 30, don’t stress, you are celebrating with people you like. And hey, it’s a new year, new you!
I love all of your New Years Party ideas! And your final note is perfect – don’t stress because you’re celebrating with your people who, no matter what, you’ll for sure have fun with!
Thanks Portia!
Love the invitation idea – we always send out everything digitally, but how fun would it be to receive and invite to a party via snail mail! Something different beyond wedding invites and Christmas cards!
I am a sucker for snail mail! Wish I got more than I do.
I love hosting parties and entertaining! I agree with Abby; the clean-up is a pain but it’s so much fun to host!
