I’m sharing these Five Must-Do Things in New York so you have the top things I can suggest anyone must do when they visit. Especially any first timer’s to the Big Apple. It can be overwhelming to think of all the things you have to see when you first visit and this gives you a highlighted tour.
Walking around the neighbourhoods can be the best sometimes, just getting the lay of the land and discovering cool streets and events at parks.
We found so many gems just exploring a neighbourhood a day (we did have a week) but I want to give you a good long weekend of options.
You can check out my first timer’s guide to NYC here and places to eat here and what to see and do in NYC here.
Take a stroll along The High Line on a sunny morning. The rest of New York will be doing exactly the same thing, but itβs a great way to take in the city and it shoots you out in the heart of the meatpacking districtβ¦
β¦which means that youβre not a million miles away from the West Village; a place so chilled that you forget youβre even in New York. Grab a coffee and people watch. Trust me, NYC is the ultimate people watching mecca.
Instead of queueing up for days to get up the Empire State Building go to the MET Rooftop Garden Bar for a great view of the city and then spend an afternoon wandering their exhibits.
The open-top bus tours may be a little cheesy, but theyβre a great way to see the city β especially by night. Just wrap up warm or prepare to freeze your nips off. Curtis and I have done this in other cities and found it so helpful or just a fun way to see the city.
Go for a walk around Central Park; rent a boat on the lake for summer or hire out ice skates in the winter. Work off all those calories from the delicious food you’ve been consuming on your trip!
Have you been to NYC? What are some must-dos you’d suggest to anyone?
