Escaping to Tofino for Storm Season

A Weekend in Tofino

A Weekend in Tofino
In November, Curtis and I went back to one of our favourite places in BC… Tofino! Long Beach Lodge Resort invited us back (we visited in 2017), to enjoy one of their cottages for a couple of days. Going in the fall is a great time to visit Tofino, it’s less crowded, storm season gives you impressive sights and it breaks up the season before the holidays arrive.

Long Beach Lodge is situated on Chesterman Beach, a popular surfing beach because it’s a cove, so not as exposed to the ocean as the others. Their great room overlooks the whole beach and gives you impressive views! I could literally sit there all day long looking out.

We’ve stayed in the lodge with an ocean view before and that was amazing, but the cottages give you a different vibe. They’re great for families with a couple of bedrooms or a group of friends. There’s a kitchen, fireplace, hot tub!, and big soaker tubs to climb into after a chilly evening or day spent catching waves.

There’s a couple of easier hikes you can take that are right near the lodge, that provide stunning views and photo opportunities at every corner.

Another feature of the resort is their Wildlife Marine Adventure tours that take you out and you might see whales, eagles, bears, wolves and sea lions! We were lucky enough to see grey whales, sea lions, sea otters, eagles and many other birds that day. The captain provides so much information, you feel like you just took a semester in marine biology in 3 hours! I cannot recommend it enough.

As you know, we go to Tofino at least once a year and love to escape here for a couple of days. There’s so much to do, no shortage of great places to eat and stay and you leave feeling refreshed and ready to get back to Vancouver.

Here’s a shortlist of our favourite places to eat and see while you stay at the lodge:

Where to Eat in Tofino

1. Wolf in the Fog
2. Lil Ronnie’s BBQ
3. Long Beach Lodge Great Room
4. Tacofino
5. Shed
6. 1909 Kitchen

What to Do in Tofino

1. Go for a hike (the tourism office has some great maps to guide you)
2. Take a marine wildlife adventure tour
3. Grab a coffee in town
4. Surf!

Our stay was complimentary by Long Beach Lodge Resort, but all opinions and memories are of my own.
