Very recently, two weekends ago, we took a little visit to Harrison Hot Springs with Ford Canada. They lent us a 2018 Ford Explorer to check out Harrison’s first Lights on the Lake event and for a cozy night at Rowena’s Inn. If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen my stories from the weekend.
Harrison Hot Springs launched a their first Lights on the Lake event on the Saturday. Lights on the Lake is a Sasquatch-themed light display, sharing Harrisonβs favourite ways to spend time outdoors. We took the 2018 Ford Explorer out for the weekend.
I picked it up the Monday before, which was a blessing because I was able to run a few errands and drive to events and meetings. Not having a car myself, this was such a luxury and a new car to boot!
We’ve stayed at Rowena’s Inn before, in a cabin, this time we stayed in a large room (Ivan’s Room) in the actual inn. It was a busy weekend, with the eagle’s being in abundance on the river. So many bird watchers, conservationists and enthusiasts were about the property. It’s such a quaint spot, with pretty views and lots of history.
The drive out to Harrison was a comfortable one, mostly because of all the tech luxuries in the 2018 Ford Explorer. Like for instance, built in massagers in the seats! YES, you can drive and have a massage at the SAME TIME.
There was also the heated steering wheel, so your hands are so nice and toasty. Car Play is in all the new models, so you can connect your cell and listen to apps like Spotify! Hell ya, 90s playlist on repeat.
It’s roomy, you sit up nice and high, but it feels like you are driving a car, not a large SUV. It’s turning radius is also very tight (due to the Independent front and rear suspension systems), lots of storage, USB port for charging your tech and I really like how the headlights at night were on auto for low lit roads, the high-beams would go on and then dim with oncoming traffic. GENIUS.
Best of all for the winter, or anywhere there are multiple seasons, the Terrain Management System. This gives you the choice to select one of four modes (Normal, Snow, Sand, Mud/Ruts) that properly balance four-wheel drive, engine, transmission and traction control systems to adapt to various conditions encountered on the road or other situations.
Curtis and I both agreed, it’s the perfect road trip vehicle. There is tons of room for luggage and people (7 to be exact). The Explorer has all the tech you need, excellent safety, great fuel economy and the voice-activated SYNC system.
We ended our weekend taking a drive to Cultus Lake. Took in the scenic views without any of the summer crowds. It was a nice little getaway to kick start our holiday season! Little R&R before everything becomes hectic.
Do you have any winter road trips planned? I’d love to do Banff one day.
Thanks to Ford Canada for the trip and sweet 2018 Ford Explorer to drive around.
