Restaurant Post – Ask for Luigi

Sunday night, Curtis and I at last visitedΒ Ask for Luigi. We had spent the day in Seattle, and drove back in a hurry to see if we could get in for theΒ last seating of the night. It had been on my list to try since they opened. We arrived at 9pm and I hurriedly went up to the host. He took my nameΒ down and went to call the others in front of us on the list to see if they still wanted their reservation. Well, we were in luck, we got a seat for two in the back, but I didn’t care. This small restaurant is charming and you could be seatedΒ anywhere and it would be perfect. The decor, wood and space just make it a romantic spotΒ to eat a meal.

We ordered the Crispy Polenta and Taleggio Cheese and Luigi’s Meatballs to start. Followed by the Tagliolini, fennel sausage and corn in a cream sauce to share. I think our conversation consisted mostly of “Mmmmmm” “That’s amazing!” “Delicious” After the three plates, we bothΒ were extremely full but still found room to share the dessert special of a plum torte with crΓ¨meΒ anglaise. We were not disappointed; every plate’s presentation was spot on too.

If Ask for Luigi was in my neighbourhood, I would be a regular. My pants would also go up in size. There was not a plate that I saw with a trace of food on it going back to the kitchen. Every dish that went past looked great and I mentally made a list to try on my next visit; whichΒ can’t be soon enough.
