A Weekend in Victoria BC

Legislative Buildings | Victoria BC | Weekend in Victoria

We recently took Rowan on her first vacation to Victoria! Since we are still going through a pandemic and traveling outside of Canada isn’t possible, we decided to explore BC. We love going to Vancouver Island, you can see our travels to Tofino and Cowichan, and Victoria is a city we haven’t visited in a while. We used to go once a year and were planning on going last year but then life got in the way. So we asked my sister and boyfriend if they wanted to join us for a long weekend and away we went!

The four of us rented an Airbnb, it was nice to have the kitchen and space to hang out instead of a hotel room. Especially with a baby, we could all be together and snack at home.

We of course did some of the touristy things, walked to the Parliament Buildings, checked out the Empress outside (with COVID, we didn’t know if we could just wander inside), spent a morning at the Royal BC Museum, and walked Dallas Road.

And don’t think we forgot to window shop Johnston Street! Of course, we browsed the shops and grabbed a coffee while walking around. Also took Rowan down Fan Tan Alley, she was amazed at the lanterns hanging down, so cute to see!

Eating out was on our list, we ended up enjoying dinner at Little Jumbo and Pizzeria Prima Strada, then grabbed breakfast at Fol Epi, which is a must! Nevermind the breakfast sandwich was touted as the best one they’ve ever had by the rest of my party, but the granola was amazing and I went back later to grab a large bag to take home. The pastries and coffees were also really delectable!

Drinks were had at Canoe Brewpub, Irish Times Pub (New street patio was nice and stroller friendly!) and we wanted to check out Whistle Buoy but another time. We ended up enjoying a drink at the Airbnb so Rowan can properly sleep. New parent life means no late drinks anymore, or at least until a babysitter can come by.

I can also recommend grabbing food at the following places because I have eaten there before. Superbaba for delicious Lebanese, Olo for Westcoast fare, Boom and Batten for brunch, 10 Acres for either lunch or dinner, the patio is the best seats! and Nourish Kitchen.

And if you have an extra day, check out Oak Bay, grab a drink at SeaCider, spend an hour exploring Buchart Gardens or take a trip to Sooke! If you are an adventurous person, there are some great hikes, whale watching (highly recommend!), zip lining and so much more to do surrounding Victoria.

I just wanted to add that I did not just wear the same outfit everyday LOL, we did a few things on one day and I forgot to pack denim shorts!

Have you been? What did you love about the city?
