About over a month ago, I had the pleasure of attending Ford Canada’s Art of Fusion event. A few select bloggers and media were invited to test out their new 2017 Ford Fusion’s while going on a scavenger hunt around the city. Our clues were to find local murals and our reward was an amazing dinner by Juno Kim and graffiti class by Ben Tour.
I had a fantastic time meeting new friends, driving the really fun 2017 Fusion and exploring Vancouver. The new Fusion was a smooth ride, full of technology and was really roomy. I drove the 2017 Ford Fusion V6 Sport model, in blue, with a 2.7L Ecoboost V6 engine. This baby is a great city drive, but can sure pick up in a flash for the highway.
It has pothole detection, intelligent AWD, pedestrian detection (yes! I know it’s the future!) and a rotary gear shift dial. And let’s keep going on all the new features.
There is the SYNC® 3 and voice-activated navigation, along with the 12-speaker, 390-watt Audio System from Sony®. Also a Blind Spot Information System (cross-traffc alert uses sensors to detect traffic in a driver’s blind spot). And a new lane-keeping system. Phew! That’s not even all of it either.
And a really cool feature is the stop-and-go cruise control, which should make your work commute less stressful. The adaptive cruise control can bring your vehicle to a complete stop in stopped traffic and restart as traffic begins to move! I love where technology is taking us in the auto world.
The object of the night was to embark on an evening of artistic discovery, where we would go on a scavenger hunt. The challenge was to visit all five street art locations, take photos in front of them with the car and post to social media. The winner (deemed by the judges) would win a trip to Whistler. In the end, Westcoast Mama won that trip!
We were put into groups of four starting at Make Vancouver (which I need to spend more time at!) and drove around finding the murals. This event was the evening before the Vancouver Mural Festival was to start, but they featured older murals not participating.
The five murals were the McGregor Mural on Vernon, Jimi Hendrix Mural on Glen. Then onto the Central Street Mural on Western and Celebrating Community Mural.
A few I have driven past but without thought, so it was nice to spend a few minutes taking the work in. We were given clues at each location where we could guess the location, but then also provided with an address just in case haha.
When we got to our final stop (at the Warehaus) and were greeted with a fusion meal by Chef Juno Kim. It was f***in delicious!
He served up Albacore tuna crudo, a family style heirloom tomato, eggplant, turnips and cheese salad. Finishing off with beer brined pork shoulder and elotes (Mexican style grilled corn). It was a lovely menu, full of flavour and great textures.
With wine in our hands, we started our graffiti lesson with well known artist Ben Tour. If we wanted, we could take our pieces home (framed!). And I did, but I still have yet to find a spot for it, but I plan on hanging it soon.
Thanks again Ford Canada! It was such a fun evening taking the new 2017 Ford Fusion out on the town.
Stay tuned for an upcoming collaboration with Ford Canada and A Life Well Consumed. Also, I’m so ecstatic for it that it’s not even funny!
Most pictures are my own, but a few were provided by Jeremy Dyson. #artoffusion
