When it comes to healthy eating, preparation is the key to success. This way you tend to not waste food, and plan ahead. If I don’t meal prep part of my week, I get lazy and waste food or make bad choices for snacks and dinners. You know when you don’t have anything easy to make and you end up filling up on chips or cheese or bread? Yup I do.
This simple meal prep just takes about an hour or so of my Sunday (or Monday night).
I’m sure you’ve all seen this trend on Instagram or maybe you also follow Tracy at Shutterbean.
Start off by cooking anything on the stove top all at once. Set the oven to roast your veggies or bake bread and desserts. I like to get this all going so I can use my counter space to wash and prep veggies and fruit. I would also suggest investing in a Tupperware set so keep organized. It’s nice when you can stack the containers in your fridge neatly.
Chopped veggies and fruit are key, they are easy to grab snacks and if prepped you tend to choose them instead of chips. Consider planning your menu for the week before shopping and prepping. That way you won’t waste anything you’ve made and keep on track budget wise.

HI Leslie. Great ideas and photos. I make double recipes of things like beef stew or pasta sauce so I can freeze one. Same amount of effort to make one or two quantities. I do the same for pasta sauce or soup.
thanks susan! oh good idea, i usually do that with pasta sauce but forgot about beef stew. making a note for this weekend, curtis loves it.
Your photos are gorgeous. <3

thanks erica!
So nice and organized! I’ve loved this idea for a while, but everything I’ve seen seems so overwhelming. Your take on it seems very manageable!
thanks kristen! once you start, it gets easier
I’ve never meal prepped before because it always seemed like such a chore. But your blog and these links you shared really make it seem simple (and dare I say it… Fun) Also, I really need to try out that dirty chai asap!
thanks jasmine! they won’t last!
This is a great list and I like how you broke it down by what area of the kitchen to be in first/last etc. I actually would love to chat with you more about meal prep and maybe we could do a series? I get asked all the time about meal prep!
thanks becki! i’m interested, send me an email with your ideas!
