I’m having a really inspired but busy start to 2019 so far. I’ve headed into 2019 with a plan for my personal and work life and it’s proving easier than I imagined so far, to stick to the changes I’ve chosen to try and implement. Along with a few other changes, like avoiding burnout, my biggest change this year has to be my mindset when it comes to how much and where I travel. Creating a five-year travel bucket list became a priority.
A huge part of my career as a lifestyle blogger and content creator, depends on being able to update my multiple channels with interesting, inspiring imagery and content that is often only possible because of my travels. In 2018 I travelled a fair bit around the Pacific NorthWest, BC and Southern California, this year I’m focused even more so on experiences that I’ll never forget.
We have booked to go to the UK (Dublin and London) and Italy this Summer, which will be an epic trip for us! I have a lot of family there so it will be nice to see them, but also to take Curtis who has never been to either country. We usually go on a big trip each year, but the last year or so was a little stressful and with my father-in-law being diagnosed with terminal cancer and then passing away, 2018 was a difficult one.
This year’s trip will be so amazing, relaxing and well deserved. I of course, am planning that trip currently but I’m also looking into where else we can visit this year. And after looking around, I thought I would share my travel bucket list of the destinations that are on my radar. To be real, I don’t have the funding or time to travel all year round like a travel blogger, but that’s ok. Just means every year I have something to look forward to.
Like most people in the world, I have my dream list of places that I would love to visit. Countries like Australia, Japan, Argentina and so many others that I’ve only seen beautiful Pinterest worthy images of. I’d recommend making yourself a list of your top choices – the places that you dream of visiting and keep going back to them. That way, if an opportunity arises to go along or save up for one big adventure, you will grab at the chance.
I’ve been wanting to visit Japan every since watching Big Bird from Sesame Street visit when I was a child. Anyone else remember that episode? Well anyways, I was 4 and I made it my mission in life to go. I’d love to not only visit Tokyo, but a few other cities and towns around Japan. Eat all the food, see the cute deer, visit the cherry blossoms and Mt. Fuji. And shop!
To be honest, I’d love to explore all of South America, but Buenos Aires has been on my list for years. It looks to be a little like Europe with a latin flair. Everything about it looks gorgeous and I bet the food is amazing!
Yes, I’m putting the whole country on this list. I want to see it all, from Barcelona to Seville. It would be a dream to roadtrip around and see all the sights. I actually wanted to live here while studying Spanish in university, what better way to do so right?
Again, another country haha. But honestly, it has alot to offer. First the historic city of Athens to the beautiful islands and incredible sunsets. And the FOOD, oh my god the food would be a highlight for me.
Visiting “down under” has been something I’ve wanted to do forever. I have quite a few cousins that live in Australia, my dad’s two uncles moved there. But besides seeing my family, it’s a beautiful continent with a diverse ecoculture that you have to see coast to coast. And one of Curtis’s best friends is moving back to New Zealand, so we also have an excuse to hop over there for a few days. From Sydney to Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Perth, I’d want to go for at least a month to see all I can.
Yes, I’m Canadian, but holy heck Canada is a large country! And truthfully when flights are cheaper to go to Europe than Nova Scotia, I book those instead. We’ve discussed going in the next year or so and road tripping around there. My grandfather was born in Elgin, New Brunswick and I’d like to visit that area, see his birthplace. And also, Curtis has never been to Toronto or Montreal and I’d like to go back to visit. I feel it’s my duty as a Canadian to explore my whole country, am I right?
I have been to Mexico City once before, but it’s been over a decade since. It has so much to offer and I’d love to see more of it with Curtis. The culture, the art, the food, the architecture and the history would make this an amazing city to visit!
I’m not sure why, but this has been on my list of places to travel to for the longest time. I think food has a big part of that, but also just the mystique of the city draws you in. If anyone has been, leave my your recommendations below!
We visited Copenhagen a few years ago and fell in love with Scandinavia. I’d love to visit Stockholm (preferably in the warmer months haha) and see what this city has to offer. I’ve seen those subway stations online and the food looks super yummy. Nevermind all the architecture that is unique to that region.
Besides going on an epic safari, Cape Town would also be high on my list. I think I’d love to explore all of Africa if possible, but South Africa is on the top of my list for that continent. The sun-kissed coasts to the breathtaking scenery, it would be a trip to remember.
The beauty, the food, the small towns and history draw me to this region in Europe. I’m also obsessed with Jamie Beck of Ann Street Studio on Instagram and her stories stay in my mind of her life in Provence. Idyllic is a great word to describe it.
Curtis and I have always wanted to do a road trip across the US, hitting up the National Parks like Yellowstone to cruising down the East Coast stopping in Philadelphia and Charleston. It would be epic to go drive across and down ending up in Miami or the Florida Keys. Places on my list for this trip would be Montana, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Portland (Maine), Washington D.C., NYC of course, Charleston, Miami and the Keys…. Yup an epic trip!
My mom’s family is Scottish and I haven’t been to see any of my cousins for a decade. Curtis hasn’t visit this Scotland yet and I thought hmmm wouldn’t it be so fun to do a roadtrip around Scotland and the English countryside? The scenery in photos doesn’t do it justice, and the cities are all gorgeous and full of history.
I’m just waiting for that seat sale to jump on and go visit! My parents went last year and said they would move there. That’s a bold statement, so I must go and see this for myself.
And my travel bucket list can go on, it could also include Switzerland, Malta, Columbia, Hawaii, Sao Paolo, Hong Kong (been before but need to revisit) and South East Asia. Not enough time to see everything or in my case $$$.
What destinations are on your travel bucket list? Have you visited any of the places above and can you share any tips?
Wow! That is an awesome bucket list! Happy travels!!
Thanks hopefully we get to check it all off!
