Here we are… week 37! I cannot believe we are in the final stretch. The baby is now able to have a better chance of survival if born early, it’s considered full-term. When I look at my pregnant belly, I still can’t envision an actual baby is in there, waiting for me to push it out. A terrifying thought haha.
I went to my weekly checkup at the midwife today and the baby is measuring as expected, I haven’t gained much more weight since my last weigh-in and I feel great. Just trying to get over a cold since last week, but other than that, sleeping as much as I can, giving Curtis a list of bits to finish up (such as deep cleaning the kitchen and bathroom tile floors), having my daily soak in the tub, and reading as much as I can before my schedule changes.
Last Friday we also met a car-seat tech who helped us install the car seat and give us so many other tips and resources for the future! I highly recommend any parent to be to take advantage of this service. It’s free, by donation, and they can show you how to properly install your car seat. Because here’s a shocking fact: 90% of car seats are installed incorrectly! You can even call them up to help you install a larger car-seat in the future, your booster seat etc.
My cravings are still the same, I want all the sumo oranges, berries, and dragonfruit! I have a smoothie at least once a day, sticking to my usual oatmeal or eggs for breakfast and don’t really crave too many sweets.
Curtis and I have been making a point to eat at restaurants that we haven’t had a chance to try yet. Squeezing in all those date nights before the baby arrives. For instance, last weekend we went to Annalena and can’t wait to go back one day!
And you might have seen in my latest Friday Roundup and on Instagram that we popped up to Whistler for a quick mini babymoon. I went for a prenatal massage at Scandinave Spa, we ate well at Araxi and Bar Oso, walked the village, grabbed drinks on the patio (hot cocoa for me!) and just relaxed.
Lastly, this bump has grown, the baby’s head is sitting on my bladder so I always feel like I have to pee, I wake up at least 3 times a night to pee, I snore really bad (according to Curtis) and I find it harder to turn over in bed or just get up from the couch. Oh and my boobs just leak all the time, so that’s fun. And this week to top it all off, new stretch marks have appeared on my thighs.
But I am very fortunate that my pregnancy has been an easy one, I know I have had it good. And I just think that it’s amazing what my body is capable of. That it is carrying my baby, giving it a safe environment to grow and eventually birth them out. Incredible right?
Well I hope to be able to give you another update before my due date! But do follow along on my Instagram, I keep you updated more on there in my stories.
