The past 29 weeks have flown by! Iβm in my 29th week of this pregnancy, in my 7th month!! NOT READY LOL
Letβs see where we left off. We went on our babymoon and will share a babymoon guide on this later in the week (hopefully!), but we ended up going to Oahu, Hawaii. It was perfect, we relaxed, rented a car drove around the island, and ate well for the week. Rowan stayed with my parents and had her mini holiday haha.
I just had my gestational diabetes test and this time didn’t pass! It was the longest 2 hours spent at Lifelabs, thankfully the nurses were nice and I made an appointment ahead of time. But still, 2 hours spent there is WAY TOO LONG. And then I got my positive results, which I was surprised by since I didn’t have GD with Rowan, but they say age and family history of diabetes are factors. I walk every day and do prenatal yoga, I crave savory instead of sweets, but now we have to break down my diet and see what I can’t eat this time around. Just frustrating to have to deal with this for the last part of this pregnancy, but it will go by quickly and hopefully no other issues.
Besides that lovely news, I can no longer fit into my jeans, so the athleisure look is in full swing! Plus it’s February here and the nights are still chillier so Iβm bundled up anyway. My bump is big enough that everyone notices it but itβs not so big that Iβm uncomfortable… yet.
The leg cramps have started every night and I have acid reflux most evenings. Just kill me now. Also slowly losing my mind, I forget so much and like in a fog some days. Pregnancy brain is in full swing. I caught myself trying to throw away some cutlery the other night, that would have been interesting when I realized where the missing forks and knives went.
This time around, we havenβt bought much yet for the baby, just a couple of onesies and a stroller toy. We kept most of Rowan’s newborn clothes (99% gender neutral) and the stroller, bassinet, and other gear. I am having a baby shower in April and asked for some basics I got rid of years ago. The only major purchases needed are a new monitor and a breast pump. My big nesting task is to organize Rowan’s room, purge toys, and make space for the baby stuff in there. Eventually, they’ll have to share a bedroom, and I’d prefer to do a tidy-up before the baby and then worry about a restructure later in the year.
It’s starting to feel a little sad sometimes thinking about the change to our little family, but then seeing how excited Rowan and Curtis are about it, I cheer up. It will be different, and going through postpartum and everything again isn’t what I look forward to, but at least this time, no pandemic when we leave the hospital. This time too, I feel I have a good group of friends, last pregnancy I felt lonely at the end, didn’t hear or see many people, or had anyone check in on me post-partum besides my family. Just nice to know I have an extended village this round.
And thatβs it for my 29-week pregnancy update! If you guys are interested Iβll do another one in a few weeks. Itβs crazy to think Iβll probably only write 2-3 more pregnancy updates before the baby arrives!
