I love the look of suede, but you have to make sure you don’t look like you are going to Coachella. It’s a fine line, mixing it with other luxurious fabrics or a statement piece, gives it a more chic look. It also provides a little nostalgia, reminiscent of the 70s, an era of cool looks and rock music. This seventies trend is in full swing this fall and I’m all for it. It is such a luxe material, either faux or real, that it makes any outfit more fashionable. Hell, you could probably dress up sweatpants with a suede trench coat. Hmmmmm that’s a genius idea! I can also see this trend going until next summer, most of the pieces can be worn throughout the winter and yes, if you are going to a music festival in the spring, you will be on trend.
At the spring 2015 fashion shows, layering was also a big trend, one that I may not try to pull off. I’ll probably end up looking like a lady who lives in a shoe.
In Vancouver, where it rains the majority of fall, winter and spring, it’s hard to wear this fabric outside. For me, I worry about getting it wet or stained. It just makes it more special to wear when you have a nice, dry day. I also spray the crap out of my shoes or purses and clean them off each time I wear them. This just ensures they stay as new looking for as long as possible. I also maintain Curtis’s shoes, I wonder if he notices?
Another option is to wear it through accessories, like bags or key rings. There are plenty of faux suede options as well in clothing and accessories, like gloves and shoes. I’ve included a couple of those in the list like a nice trench coat.
